The CxL-50 Spectroscopic Amplifier - Fast Edition - provides a Gaussian output pulse with a shaping time of 50 ns FWHM. It is an AC coupled amplifier with integrated Bias-Tee and is designed to operate with large input capacitances.
The CxL-50 is the amplifier of choice for high-speed neutron spectroscopy with diamond detectors.

The CxL-50 Spectroscopic Amplifier provides a highly symmetric Gaussian pulse shape with 50 ns FWHM and 35 ns peaking time.
The amplifier has a gain of 5 mV/fC, which is adequate for the input and output ranges encountered in fusion neutron diagnostics with diamond detectors.
It is a low-noise device with a noise figure of σe- = (540 + 16/pF) electrons.

The CxL-50 Spectroscopic Amplifier is an inverting, bipolar device with an input range of ±200 fC, corresponding to 16 MeV deposited energy in diamond.
The amplifier is protected against sparks by a dedicated double input protection system DIPS™.

The capacitive load at the input of the amplifier has an impact on the resolution of the measurement. The rms noise contribution for particle spectroscopy as a function of the capacitive input load is shown on the left.
Depending on the acceptable noise contribution of the amplifier a maximum input capacitive load is to be specified, from which the acceptable detector cable length is derived for the measurement setup.
